Our Story
About Jupiter Row
At Jupiter Row we believe in intentional spaces, goods and the meaning of face-to-face community interaction. We believe in the power of beauty and the permission to invite it into all our lives.
Meet Founder
Anahata Katkin
My name is Anahata and I opened Jupiter Row in 2015 in downtown, Ashland Oregon in our Victorian era building. The joy of bringing this curated mercantile to life is a deeply rewarding experience. I created Jupiter Row as an ode to Ashland itself. A bit of visual lifestyle poetry reflected in handmade finds, international artisans, quality goods and a color palette that reflects the hills, natural beauty and local spirited lifestyle of the Rogue Valley.
I became a full time visual artist in 2003 and used that to eventually fuel my shopkeeper dreams. The joy of bringing our curated mercantile to life is a rewarding experience. (And the art of shopkeeping is becoming somewhat endangered here in the US.)
Our Philosophy
Business is only a business without the soul and intention behind it. And at Jupiter Row we believe in intentional spaces, quality goods and the meaning of face-to-face community interaction. We believe in the power of beauty and the permission to invite it into all our lives. Thanks to a dedicated and talented staff we are able to bring these ideas to life in the heart of Ashland.
It is our goal at Jupiter Row to be an inspiring extension of our Ashland aesthetics and values while also delivering a broader, global appreciation to our small town.
Connecting Online
It is our hope that you will invite our heartfelt offerings into your daily life wherever you live. To make our mercantile accessible to neighbors and friends both near and far. We aim to bring a small but genuine alternative to life in a sea of impersonal online giants. Bringing the importance of local Shopkeeping to life anywhere.
*We built this website as the 2020 Covid Quarantine took effect. We realized that we never wanted to be disconnected from our community again.
History
Since I was a little girl I dreamt of becoming a shopkeeper and a visual artist. And my life has lead me to do both in intertwined ways. I became a full time artist in 2003, at 25 with the launch of our Mother/ Daughter company PAPAYA. PAPAYA has been a vehicle to share my artwork and unique product offerings. I became a seasoned merchant selling my artwork to Shopkeepers around the world and learning the ins and outs from within this creative driven industry. In 2011 I opened my first Brick-n-Mortar boutique, PAPAYA Living which is a flagship of PAPAYA. And in 2015 I founded Jupiter Row right next door.
I moved to Ashland, Oregon in 2004. I raised my son here and built three passion-based creative businesses in the Rogue Valley alongside my business partner and Mother, Gina Katkin.
Thank you for your ongoing love and support.
